Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope you have a great and safe holiday season

What is in store for you this year?  Are you going to finally get in shape?  Be a better person?

I am going to do it all.  I'm going to hopefully finish my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  With it  I can increase my chances in career advancement and better support my family.

I'm looking for folks who'd be willing to help out.  If you can spread the word along that would be great

Thanks

Two Cool Websites

I was exploring around the internet today and I came across (at least what I thought were) two cool websites.

First off, if you like politics there is the following link
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/

If you've got a burning political issue you can post it on the White House webpage and you can get people to sign it nationwide.  If you get over 25,000 supporters, then you'll get an official response from the White House.

Secondly, is a fundraising website.  You can get a fundraiser going for anything through this website.  Whether its for a school, a Full fledged Non-profit or just for yourself.

Its called  www.gofundme.com    All it costs is 2.9% of the money contributed to your acount.

I just thought they were interesting.

'Tis the Season

Hello Everyone,

So sorry I haven't written in a while.  I'm curious to see what types of books you're looking to get and give for the holiday season?

I am looking forward to getting the latest books from John Grisham, David Baldacci and Clive Cussler.

I just finished   The Patriot's History of America.  It was an interesting read.  I've got Americans in Paris ready to go next.

I'd be eager to hear what you're looking for and recommending this holiday season

Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Hello everyone.  I hope you all had a safe and fun holiday with the family and friends.

Did anyone go out shopping on Friday?  I passed.  I don't care for the crowds myself.  I did go shopping online today.  So far the best online sites I've found was Amazon.com.   IF you're a Southwest Credit Card holder they have a lot of good deals too.

I'd be interested in hearing what you're favorite finds are

Success

In Malcolom Gladwell's book Outliers, he said it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert at something.
I'm curious to hear if anyone has read the book and has any thoughts.

I have a little boy who loves playing tennis....so since I've read the book I've been keeping track of his time on the court.  I want to see for myself how much time on the court equates to success, so long as my little guy wants to participate

Lincoln

Has anyone seen Lincoln yet?  I am going to see it Sunday.  I'd be interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

It was based on the Team of Rivals book by Doris Kearn Goodwin.  I enjoyed the book and read it twice. I highly recommend it as one of the best books that I've read on Lincoln.

What is your opinion of Lincoln?  I have to say that after reading the book, I found that Lincoln is by far the BEST president we ever had.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on who was the best.

My top 5 Presidents are:
Lincoln
Washington
FDR
Teddy Roosevelt
Truman

Autobiographies

I just finished, One Last Strike by Tony LaRussa.  For those of you who don't know he was the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals and MLB manager for 33 years.

The book told the story of the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals and their struggles to get into the playoffs and finally win the World Series.

I have to begin by saying I am a baseball JUNKIE.  Put a baseball book in front of me and I'm going to read it all up.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It turned out to be a bit different from what I had anticipated.  I was  expecting a book about his 33 years in the big leagues.  He did refer back in time to this but not as much as I'd had hoped for.

I'm currently looking for other baseball books.  Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Thanks
